Magpies, part of the Corvidae family, including the Eurasian magpie, are the only nonmammal species that is able to recognise itself in a mirror test.

Hand-drawn in July 2017, this magpie drawing was created with watercolour pencils for my Native British Garden Birds collection.  The collection features wild and song birds that are visitors to our gardens and green spaces throughout Britain.

This drawing was created on watercolour paper using Derwent watercolour pencils.
