Pine Marten Art Print. Watercolour pencil drawing of a European pine marten on a branch.
Pine Marten drawing art print. A print of my watercolour pencil drawing of a pine marten, available directly from the artist.
This is a print of my original watercolour pencil drawing, hand drawn in January 2018.
European Pine Martens, also called baum marten, sweet marten and pineten, belong to the mustelid family along with the otter, badger, mink, wolverine and weasel. Pine Martens are native to Northern Europe. Within the UK they have generally been confined to Scotland with a small population in Wales. Sadly in England they are so rare that they had been considered extinct. More recently populations have been discovered in Cumbria, Shropshire and Yorkshire.
The increasing pine marten population in the UK has been credited for the reduction of grey squirrels, which in turn is helping the native red squirrel recover.
Watercolour pencils are special water soluble colouring pencils. With these I can literally paint with pencils, blending the vibrancy of a painting with the intricacy of fine pencil lines. A high resolution scan has been made of the original artwork and I exclusively produce prints and other items.
